Fasting: to abstain from food

Besides the body being mostly water and needing water all this water helps to flush toxins from your body. Besides toxins being flushed through your urine, they will come through your skin also. This can cause eruptions in the skin such as pimples and blisters. This depends a lot on the amount of toxic waste built up in your body. As you further research fasting you will find that you can clean your colon after 3-4 days to help clean out crud and help the detoxification process. It depends a lot on why you are fasting in the first place. If you are just doing a cleansing fast of a few days you might not do a colon cleaning.

Breaking a fast.

As the title says, we do it everyday, we eat "break fast". When you have breakfast in the morning you are breaking a fast, A short one yes but a fast to be sure. While you sleep and your body rests you receive a mini fast every night. Breaking a fast should be done slowly to wake up your digestive system. Some people say that breaking a fast should take half the time that you fasted. You want to gradually reintroduce solid foods to your diet. Start with soft fruits, broths, soups et cetera slowly working up to heavier foods and proteins.

Fasting is mentioned 26 times in the NIV version of the Bible. Because of translations being what they are there are probably more references. Fasting is number one a time to become closer to God through Prayer and meditation.

The healing benefits of fasting are just a little extra added touch. This way if you are fasting with the right heart you will be blessed with a closer relationship with God. The healing powers of fasting I believe are an added gift in recognition of following God's word.

The Bible and God's word are the bases of a humane society. Should it be a surprise that if we follow the teachings of God we will be Blessed greatly.

Matthew 4:2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

Esther 9:31 to establish these days of Purim at their designated times, as Mordecai the Jew and Queen Esther had decreed for them, and as they had established for themselves and their descendants in regard to their times of fasting and lamentation.

Joel 2:12 "Even now," declares the LORD , "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."

Matthew 6:16 "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

Matthew 6:18 so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
